Silver and White Abstract Semaphore

This one was impossible to photograph. Metallic grey/silver and white abstract pattern, reminds me of semaphore flags or burgees (the flags they fly from yachts). Framed in stripes of white and silver.

24" X 24" silver and white abstract pattern. Rolled white hem. Silk, signed in white, no ladybug.

Daisies and Abstractions

Really purdy butterscotch and hot pink with white and pink daisies scarf. Little freckles all over, a very cool pink L shaped abstract shape. Daisies are the most joyful of flowers and make me miss my mom.

24" X 24" butterscotch, pink, white, daisies. Signed in white, pink ladybug, rolled pink hem. Silk.

poppies

Table runner, tea towel or napkin? Who knows for sure. Happy Happy Springtime design.

Signed in green, yellow ladybug. White cotton, 12 " X 36". Yellow and orange and green poppy print.

More butterflies

A lovely tapestry or table runner or wall hanging? Butterflies and flowers in blue, green, black line drawings and white accents. Has seen better days, but I love it.

White tapestry with green and blue butterflies/flowers. 12" X 48" Cotton. Signed in Black, green lady bug.

Calling a Tree a Spade

Is it a Spade or a Tree? Perhaps I will never know. Another imperfect piece of silk perfection. Gorgeous, bold blocks of Blues and Greens with white and black line work. Edged in stripes. So terribly modern! Too big for me to wear, but in theory I would.

36" X 36" Green/Blue/White/Black color blocks with black line detail. Signed in black, no ladybug. Silk with a rolled light blue hem.

Poor Thing/Happy Daisies

I have to rescue the poor ripped Veras where I find them. I don't remember where I got this big, bold silky beauty. Hotter than hot pink, orange back ground with white/blue and orange daisies. Makes me very happy to look at, and hope that I have a duplicate in the large suitcases o Vera I have waiting for my iron and camera. Super 60s!

Yellow silk with orange and white/pink/blue daisy pattern. Rolled orange hem, signed in white, no ladybug. 36" X 36"

Sheer Pucci rip off

Ah, everyone was doing the pseudo psychedelia in the late 60s, early 70s, and dear Vera was not immune. Fantastic sheer with 2 blues swirly pattern. Would look fantastic around one's neck with sunglasses riding shot gun in your best friend's convertible. I wish my best friend had a convertible, or I did, along with good vision and a license! Alas. But I do have this Vera.

Blue silk chiffon. Blue/light blue/white swirls. Signed in white, no ladybug.

Fancy napkin

The colors and design on this are divine. This is another single napkin, and the poor thing is stained all over in coffee (but washed), however, it is still a beautiful example of a simple yet elegant Vera napkin. A set of these on a table set with blue and green hydrangeas in a black vase: perfection! I adore the black line drawings of pottery and the sea blue color of the linen.

Log Cabin Design

Sometimes I come across a Vera (or even some other vintage item) and I have to wonder who created it in the first place and thought: "WOW! This is Fab-U-lous! I am genius!", and then it was produced and someone bought it thinking: "This is made of awesome!" And they were both wrong. This reminds me of a log cabin quilt design sort of. The colors are a murky mess to me, I just do not respond, but completion, completion kept me ironing it.

24" X 24" Silk, Browns, Blues, stripes, rolled hem. Signed in white, no ladybug.

Tron and Flowers

Another single napkin- I guess people lose or ruin the other ones, or someone else buys them before I can. Anyway, big grey and pink flowers with tan stem/leaves and a charcoal grid. This looks very modern to me. Sorry I didn't iron it. I don't have patience to iron right now, which is why the posts have been slow. There aint no cure for laziness.

Napkin, white cotton 12 X 12" square, charcoal grid, pink flowers. Serged edge in charcoal. Signature in grey, no ladybug.

More patriotic Vera!

I do really dig this abstract sunburst patter of blue and tomato soup red on white silk.
I wouldn't wear it, but I could see it as a scarf-top with a pr of faded up to the sky jean shorts. Sexy!

24"-24" White silk with abstract pattern in red and blue. Signed in white, no ladybug.

Morning Glories

This would have been the kind of napkin my mother would use for a special breakfast when I was growing up. If you were going to your first day of school, or you were in the school play, debuting that night, etc., she would make your place at the breakfast table special with 3rd best company china (really!), silver PLATED silverware, nice glasses and a cloth napkin. She would have chosen this one because they were "her" colors back then and had morning glories, thus, morning. My mom really taught me a lot, even if I did not realize it. Thanks, Phyllis!

Pity many Vera napkins are stained. They are still fantastic.

12" X 12" linen morning glory green/yellow/orange/black print on white lawn. Singed in black with an orange ladybug. Serged with orange thread edge.

Buttercotch Business Lady

This would have been worthy of the ultimate 9-5 business lady look, if I had a really bad 80s pinstriped skirt suit. If it were the only assertion of femininity in an outfit, I think it would do rather well. 80s polyester plaid long, diagonal scarf, made for bow tying. I do really like the line work/pattern color, if not the cut and fabric.

Rectangular with diagonal end, long scarf, plaid, butterscotch/blue/grey/black white. Polyester, folded and hemmed edges in grey, signed in black, no ladybug, copyright. Looks more mass produced than most.

80s, Revisited

This scarf reminds me of my parents' house (and their friends' houses) decor in the 80s. The colors scream "I got the latest and greatest in colors!" in the 80s, like avocado/brown/orange said "This is the 70s". Mauve, Hunter Green, and that periwinklesque blue. I could see this being a scarf Lily Tomlin would have to buy for her boss in 9-5 (I am still convinced that scarf that ends up on Dolly is a Vera!). Not saying it is without charm: I will always love floral on silk. You really cannot screw that up! But the addition of an overlay of darker mauve paisley? So 80s!

Rectangular scarf of mauve silk with blue and green floral design, darker mauve (puce?) paisley design all over. Hand rolled blue hem, signed in darker mauve, no ladybug. 36" X 9"

Garden Party Napkin

This might be my favorite Vera napkin in my collection. Sadly, there is only one, because how pretty they would be on a tea table with my white china with yellow flowers.
This yellow cotton napkin has a fern leaf and a four leaf clover rendered in a lime green and a tiny red ladybug. The design is only on 1/4 of it, so it is obviously meant to be folded neatly on a table.

Yellow Cotton square, 18" X 18", lime green botanical print, serged limed green edge. Signed in green with a red ladybug.

Patriotic Fritillaries

Love this red white and blue butterfly print cotton Vera. I was just given a few Veras by a friend, and that is a gift that always makes me giddy. New Veras I do not have!

Cotton, red, white and blue butterfly pattern. 24 X 24, Vera signed in blue, no ladybug.

Just Peachy Keen

Peachy and Green Print. I like that the peaches are kind of rude, but then, peaches are in real life, all fuzzy and cleft.

18" square, silk, chartreuse rolled edge White signature. No ladybug.

Hot Rods From Hell

This is the Vera I wear most often. I love pink/black/white together, and the harly-q diamond is one of my favorite shapes. Sheer, long rectangular scarves bring to mind convertibles and bad girls with cats' eye sunglasses. Totally "Hot Rods From Hell" girl. I usually wear this with an all black ensemble. I wish I could wear skintight satin pants with it. Sexy! This is a different kind of bad girl sheer scarf from the "oogie". Oogies were more for motorcycle or hard top vixens. The longer scarves were for the convertible drag race betties. A few steps down from an Isadora Duncan scarf.

24" X 62" Sheer olive, pink, white harlequin diamonds outlined in black. Black hand rolled edge. Black Vera signature, no ladybug.
